Our Aussies are about 30-40 lbs and our poodles are about 15-20 lbs. So their puppies should be right in the middle, right? Well, you may have heard of the term "hybrid vigor." Hybrid vigor refers to the improved health, genes, and size of hybrid dogs. It has been repeatedly observed that crosses between two breeds results in better health, fewer genetic problems, and slightly bigger size. So, accounting for increased size, we expect our puppies to mature between 25 and 35 pounds, with males potentially tipping the higher end of the scale.
Aussiedoodles are known as the “Einstein” of the dog breeds. The Aussiedoodle is the smartest and most affectionate doodle breed to their owners, not to mention, a cuteness explosion. Families looking for a perfect active family pet are taking note of this crossbreed, not just because they are beautiful, but for their intelligence and long healthy life span. Their low dander and low shedding coat requires a lot of maintenance, but unlike Aussies, Aussiedoodles are very low-shedding!
The Aussiedoodle puppy is incredibly easy to train, and they learn what you want very quickly. Aussiedoodles tend to learn human phrases, such as, “go ahead”, “back up”, “get in your crate” within the first few weeks. They are incredibly easy to train, will do just about any activity you give them, and with a little effort, they can be trick dogs, agility dogs, therapy, or comfort dogs.
Our extensive temperament evaluations give insight not only into the Aussiedoodle's temperament in general, but also into each individual puppy's unique strengths and needs. We test a total of 12 traits that are vital to making the best match possible for your family!
Aussiedoodles can have a spectrum of coats from soft and wooly to wavy and silky. Individual coats require different levels of daily care, but prepare to fully detangle your dog several times a week, in addition to teeth brushing and the occasional bath.
Doodles must be groomed every 6-12 weeks. Depending on your groomer, groomings usually fall between $30 and $100 per session.
We recommend making a first trip to the groomer when your puppy is 11-12 weeks old for a quick "Feet, Face, and Fanny" trim.
Aussiedoodles are medium to medium-high energy dogs. They thrive with one "adventure" (a walk, car ride, trip to the office, hike, playdate, or swim) and a few adventures on the weekend.
For the rest of the day, Aussiedoodles love to be as physically close to their humans as possible!
Black bis, although our most common color, are strikingly beautiful dogs. Black coats tend to be silkier, shinier, and generally look cleaner!
Black puppies can have black, brown, or blue eyes, depending on their parents.
Chocolate is a slightly less common color than black, so wait may be slightly longer for chocolate than black.
